Her striking beauty and innocence is a direct reflection of her off-screen persona. Born in Aurangabad and having lived in Chennai, Kashmir, Delhi and now Mumbai, this well- traveled, well-read leading lady is a breath of fresh air in the film industry.
While studying English literature at Miranda House in Delhi, Minissha also modeled part time, while she housed the ambition of being a war journalist post her graduation. However, destiny had something else in store as the director of her Cadbury's ad, Soojit Sircar, offered her a role in his directorial debut film, Yahaan. Ironic that having aspired to be a war journalist, her debut film would be set against the current situation in the war-torn Shrinagar. As sudden and unexpected as her entry into films was, she slowly found her bearings in Bollywood in spite of never having planned on being an actress and not knowing anyone in the industry. Post Yahaan there was no looking back as she quickly went on to work with actors like Kay Kay Menon, Bipasha Basu, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Zayed Khan within her next few releases. Representative of today's new age heroines, Minissha's professionalism and poise ensure her a position in the list of tomorrow's most sought after leading ladies.
